ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
ENERGY SAVING
Natural Side is our project to offer eco-conscious materials for soles and objects.
Our materials in the Natural Side line are obtained from renewable and sustainable sources, such as sugar cane, E.V.A. recycled.
These materials have characteristics completely similar to those of traditional materials, but with a significantly lower environmental impact.
The use of recycled and organic materials contributes to the reduction of waste, the conservation of natural resources and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
The Natural Side project represents an opportunity to create new products and new possibilities in a world increasingly attentive to environmental sustainability
From the collaboration our laboratory with Pisa University, we realized G Side® (GREENSIDE) the first line of products certified with the highest recycled E.V.A. amount ever made.
A long research process, which began several years ago, to try reuse any process leftover: from simple finishing powders to molds overflow, from flawed plates to portions of raw material in excess.
This allows to create articles with different densities, hardness and abrasion resistance, So, to realize an entire G Side® line, suitable both for plates and soles in E.V.A. including midsole and insole.
G Side® is made in flat plates, wedged or with a special pattern, or as a product for soles in E.V.A. injection molding, part our ELITE line.
The whole G Side® line can be made with the MILLED effect, with granules in contrasting color, variable in grain size and combination, or can be produced in standard colors.
The effect is not limited to the surface, but is also inside the plates and the injected sole.
The entire production process has been verified, standardized and certified according to UNI EN ISO 14021:2016. Each production batch is recorded and tracked by our management system.
Bio Based™
We have created a range of items (soles and midsoles) using raw materials from renewable sources.
The physical/mechanical characteristics of foams obtained using bio-E.V.A. are completely equal to those coming from fossil sources.
The ethanol (bio-ethanol) used to obtain the monomer for E.V.A. production is in fact processed from sugar cane, a renewable and sustainable raw material.
Furthermore, during growth, sugar cane absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere, thus contributing the reduction of global CO2 emissions in the entire production process.
Since the bio-ethanol used to produce the E.V.A. contains the carbon that cane sugar has absorbed through photosynthesis, it is possible to analytically verify the content of carbon from renewable sources, and so relative percentage of the so-called “Biogenic carbon percentage”.
Biogenic carbon indicates the percentage of carbon that comes from “renewable” sources (biomass/sugar cane) rather than from petrochemical (or in any case fossil) sources.
As a reference 100% biogenic carbon means the material derives completely from plants while 0% biogenic carbon means the material contains no plant-derived carbon. A intermediate value indicates a mixture of natural and fossil sources.
A UNI EN ISO 14855 certification, obtained through testing in specialized laboratories: in absolute compliance with the European Directive CE 94/62 which refers to the degradation of materials. The second is the development of a family of compounds that, depending on the different characteristics, allows biodegradability in a period ranging from 6 to 12 months.
Characteristics of biodegradability
Our material only degrades when it is in constant contact with other degradable materials. This means that the process begins under conditions such as those present in household compost, in industrial composting areas, or when the products are buried in the ground or in landfill.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY
"We produce efficiency, we generate savings, we defend the environment"
We invest in the energy revolution
Reducing the environmental impact is an important achievement.
The entire “Elite” production line is designed to reduce CO2 emissions by 264 tons per year and reduce the impact created by 122 tons of oil consumption. These data correspond to the preservation of over 48 hectares of reforestation per year.
Selasti therefore continues in its commitment to protect the environment without giving up the production of high-quality items. The production lines within the industrial plant of Pontassieve, are all powered by clean energy, due to the use of photovoltaic panels that covers the industrial buildings.
